a journal of my journey through fear, action, and life on a quest to find my purpose.

Tiny pieces.

Tiny pieces.

I'm not sure if it was a result of writing out my entry yesterday, but today I felt just a whole lot more productive.  Not only with nesbits, but with my day job.  For both, I stopped thinking about the big picture of all I had to do and broke everything down into smaller tasks.  Yes, kind of like a To Do list, but not exactly.  It's something I've read about and even put into practice many times before, but I clearly needed a reminder.

"The secret to getting ahead is getting started.  The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into smaller, manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one."
~ Mark Twain

What is so interesting is that once I cleared my mind of the huge task and broke into tiny pieces, I made room for more creativity and serious thought about the direction of my side business moving forward.  (I've promised myself to not write about just ideas, until there is some action taken, but it felt good to let go of some of the stress and to focus on greater goals).  With nesbits, breaking up total of four orders into smaller batches that I can do in a day or evening not only made it more mentally doable to just start, but also enabled me to communicate an estimated delivery date.  Managing the expectation also is helping tremendously with the stress and the inaction that results from being overwhelmed.

So, I'm going to go it.  I need to go with it, and keep going with it until that big task is done... and another one is there to complete?!  I'd love to write more, but I have cheese to shred and dog treat dough to make!!

"The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing."
~ Walt Disney
